THRILLVILLE was a “retro pop culture cabaret” hosted, programmed and produced by lounge lizard beatnik/freelance writer Will “the Thrill” Viharo and his lovely assistant and patient wife, Monica “Tiki Goddess.”

Since 1997, the Thrills have presented hundreds of vintage and contemporary “B” drive-in/grindhouse movies and dozens of live burlesque troupes, retro bands and guest celebrities around the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, including the Werepad in San Francisco, the Fine Arts Cinema and Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, Copia in Napa, Tiki Oasis in San Diego, and the B Movie Celebration in Indiana.

After losing their original home base when the Parkway and Cerrito Speakeasy Theaters folded in mid-2009, Thrillville took its act on the road for a year, to venues such as the Camera 3 Cinema in San Jose, the 4 Star Theater and the Balboa Theater in San Francisco. Then, for over two years Will programmed and hosted the “Forbidden Thrills” cult movies-and-cocktails nights at Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge in Alameda. Currently Will programs the weekly “Thrillville Theater” series at The New Parkway in Oakland. Now based in Seattle, Thrillville will resume on a semi-regular basis at Central Cinema.

Cheers.

    Hey there –
I wonder if the Alameda Theater could be persuaded to show “Watch Horror Films! Keep America Strong!” – maybe a double feature. Have any horror films (beside The Matrix) been made in Alameda?
